Hello!!! Today, I would like to tell about how Google services, namely Google AdWords, work with non-Latin URLs.

Google has solved the problem of incompatibility of Google AdWords advertising service with IDN-domains that contain non-Latin characters.

Previously, creating a new ad, one had to use punycode-equivalent of International domain names. For example, игры.рф, had to be entered as xn--c1ajz8b.xn--p1ai. And now Google changed it.

In July 2011, Google Adwords began to support Internationalized Domain Names for display and destination URLs on Google ads. This means advertisers will no longer have to show a non-ASCII ad followed by an ASCII domain name. The new list of acceptable characters also includes accents and diacritical marks.

AdWords clients can enter unicode characters for the URLs and Google will verify that it works correctly in both unicode and punycode.

The display URL will only show up only in cases where the language matches that of the user’s Google interface, otherwise it will render in punycode.

How to register Cyrillic domains in Ukraine?

Hello, my friends!!! Today I’m going to tell you how to register Cyrillic domains in Ukraine.

At last, it became possible to register Ukrainian Cyrillic domain names!!! A lot of users are happy because of the fact that the Ukrainian language is coming to the Internet. Administrators of the hosting sites are still happier, because they are making good money at this.:)

But, nevertheless, many users are interested in registering the web addresses of their sites in the Ukrainian language. So, what you should know about this process? First of all, the rules of registration, of course. The characters of Cyrillic alphabet, as well as Arabic numerals and hyphen symbol are acceptable for registration. However, one cannot use the Ukrainian apostrophe symbol “'” and the characters from another alphabets. For those who are thinking already what domain name to register, one more rule is established: the name needs to contain at least one unique character, which differs from Roman letters and numbers.

Where to register Ukrainian Cyrillic domains is one more important question. Nowadays one can register a new Cyrillic domain name at almost any hosting site. Here are the links to the most popular of them:
·       http://www.vegatele.com
·       http://www.imena.ua/
·       http://iname.ua
·       http://nic.ua

And, finally, let’s speak about the price of such service. Actually, it doesn’t differ greatly depending on the hosting sites (from 84 to 87 UAN a year). The minimum registration term is 2 years and the maximum term - 10 years.

Hello!!!

Today’s post will be devoted to the Cyrillic domain names in Ukraine. Some weeks ago during the Internet class I said that there were no Ukrainian Cyrillic domains. But I was mistaken!!! Recently I have found some information that surprised me and made me glad: Ukraine has its own Cyrillic URLs, indeed!!!

Since November 2010 it is possible to register Cyrillic web-addresses in the registration areas like .ua, .com.ua and .kiev.ua. In fact, these are half-Cyrillic domains, which contain both Ukrainian and Russian letters, for example продакшн.com.ua, чернигов.com.ua, фанат.com.ua. Nowadays, as statistics says, more than 20.000 Ukrainian Cyrillic URLs exist.

Moreover, last year ICANN allowed Ukraine to use national domain name .укр, but, unfortunately, its practical implementation is stopped at the moment. Experts say, next year it will be available for public use.

 Hello!!!
Today I am going to tell you about Cyrillic web addresses registered in Russia.

Russian federation was the first country that received Cyrillic domain .рф. Open registration of such domain names began on 11 November 2010. Nowadays, as experts say, almost 900.000 Cyrillic URLs exist. But there are also some problems connecting with this.

Firstly, there are no hosting sites offering free registration of domain .рф. One has to pay approximately $5 to register and $15 a year to prolong the domain.

Secondly, many Internet users claim that sites with Cyrillic Web address are less popular comparing with the sites using traditional Latin URLs.

Also, in fact, most sites use both Cyrillic and Latin web address. But very often search engines find only their Latin variants, which makes users argue about usefulness of Cyrillic domains.

But, nevertheless, allowing of internationalized domain names is a great step forward in the development of the Global network.
